There appears to be some repetition in page 796 with imagery that appeared a few pages earlier. This is not the usual Pynchon. Is this bad editing?

  1. I myself found the penultimate section to be a bit sloppy. The “Corporate Christer Republicans” formulation, for instance, is uncharacteristically heavy-handed. Once Pynchon identifies a group as corporate-christers, the Republican is strongly implied, he need not beat us over the head with it. Even that would be a little direct of Pynchon; when in form, he’s much more likely to reveal this attribution in the course of some elaborate pun on the eucharist (“corporate” christers?)
